McGregor Winter School 2015

McGregopr Winter School

I’m sitting here writing this post, sunshine flowing in through my window, birds singing (damn cicadas singing too…though not too loudly today) and, for a little touch of luxury, I have my feet soaking in a gorgeously scented tub of warm water and epsom salts……the joys of working from home! Yes, life is good.

But I’m not here to tell you about my feet. I have big news……

Following my wonderful first time teaching at McGregor Winter School last year, I am thrilled to say they have asked me back, and enrollments are now open for 2015.

The course runs for five consecutive days, Monday 29th June to Friday 3rd July 2015. A full week of creativity, art, making new friends, fun, laughter and maybe a little wine or two – after class of course.

This year, my course is a little different…..more, well, “Artsy” I suppose you could say.

Our focus this year will be on decorative surface techniques, and we will explore design ideas so that you can use your metals, not only for jewellery, but for stand-alone artworks and adornments for any number of creative and artistic projects. Oh yes, we are getting creative!

You will learn how to set up your own etching system, using a safe solution…..no gas-mask required.

Copper Etching

We will also delve in to the art of Titanium colouring (so much fun!!) and reticulation.

And then the designing begins….. Use your decorative elements to create anything you like – jewellery, artworks, adornments – it’s totally up to you, no set projects, no rules, I want you to use your imagination and creativity.

For those that haven’t been to McGregor Winter School before, let me tell you it is such an inspiring atmosphere. Hundreds of artistically-minded people, together for five days. If metalwork is not your thing, there are a number of art classes available (in fact, I’m a little jealous…..I’d love to do some of those classes!!).

Pop over to the Artsworx website to find all the information you will need and, of course, to enroll. If you have any questions about my course, just pop me an email or head over to my Facebook page and shoot me a message.

I hope to see you there!!

There was an unfortunate mistake in the printing of the brochure and the description and image from last year was accidentally used, so if you have a printed brochure, please be aware that this year it is a totally different course to last year.
